This nostalgic story follows six unique millennial characters as they navigate their friendships, relationships, and situationships from high school into adulthood…

Volume 1

The story begins as these teenagers develop their ships. Along the way, they encounter new experiences—some exciting, some scary, and some unexpected—and a strong bond is forged between them. But as they find themselves in complications that expose feelings of guilt, jealousy, inadequacies, and fear, they are left in the eleventh hour to figure out their ships before it’s time to say goodbye.

Volume 2

The story continues as these characters attempt to overcome the challenges of long-distance. As these friends enter the next phase of their lives, they find themselves struggling to keep their bonds—some are left to find new ships, some to redefine their ships, and some who have no choice but to let go.

More About the Trilogy

For those who might be interested in reading Our Ships Story (volumes 1-3) and would like an idea of what you’re getting yourself into before committing to the journey, I am going to give you the heads up, personally. (No spoilers)

What to Expect

As far as genre, this trilogy would fit categories such as young adult, new adult, realistic fiction, and coming-of-age. Although there are romantic relationships in the book, I don’t think it fits the romance genre because my writing style doesn’t exactly fit how most romance novels are written. I wanted the story to be more realistic, down to earth, and kind of like a memoir—even though it’s fiction. There is explicit language used by some characters, a few graphic scenes (nothing too smutty), and a mention of abortion in case that’s a trigger for anyone.

Playlist Feature, Prologue, and Excerpts

This is a nostalgic story that reflects a time period from the millennial years. So readers who were teens during the early 2000’s, and/or had relationships/friendships during that time will relate to the story the most. I added the playlist feature since many songs from that time period were mentioned through the chapters—along with movie references, vehicles, and clothing styles—to give that feeling of nostalgia. Also, the prologue and unit excerpts are actually being told from one of the main characters in the story (to be revealed at the end of the epilogue in Volume 3).

A Breakdown of Volumes, Units, and Chapters

The story is broken up into three volumes. My FAVORITE is volume 2; however, volume 1 is the MOST important because it’s the foundation for what’s to come in the next two volumes.

Volume 1 tells the story of how these characters come together, complicate their ships, and impact each other. It’s where you as the reader get to know these characters, their backgrounds, their different lifestyles and family dynamics, and watch them begin their journey.

Volume 2 is where the plot thickens. Things get rather messy as these characters are faced with long-distance challenges, outside influences, and family intrusions. They make tough decisions and careless choices, all while trying to hold on to their ships as best as they can.

Volume 3 is when the characters try to piece their ships back together. Lessons are learned, and it’s time for them to redefine some of their ships, make new and better decisions, and try to bring everyone back together again.

If you would like more details about the main characters and their storylines, stay tuned! Again, I will try to keep it spoiler-free for those who want to take the journey through the story themselves.

Sincerely, Lianne
